    Hey guys,

I hope its ok to post this here. If not, my bad lol. Ok, so I have been at it for only a few days now. I realize I am not going to learn everything in just 4 days. But I would like to hear any advice you guys may have on drafting a HC, OC, DC, AC, SC.

Im looking to remove my 3-29 Coach lol. I have been looking over the coaches, and basically have a few questions:

    1. Does the role of the coach have an impact on your teams on-field performance, how successful you are with certain plays, or on a specific side of the ball?

Example: Would a HC who specializes in True 34 and say DL have more influence on the defense(on and off the field) Than say a HC who has OL and Smashmouth characteristics?

I just wanted to reach out to the community to see if there is a universal philosophy on this, as well as get different viewpoints if possible.

I believe the answer is ?????. A lot of the coaching stuff is a mystery past the basics - there's too many variables and it's tough to pin down.

The best we've really got is the bars.

Only the HC uses Motivation (??? an in-game factor, exact effects unknown), Discipline (affects penalty rates); only the OC and DC use Play Calling (??? thought to determines the suitability of what play is picked). All (plus the Assistant) use Player Development (development of 4+ year players), Young Talent (development of 1-3 year players), Scouting (affects the accuracy of stats when viewing a player's card - more pronounced in rookies than vets), and Interviewing (determines how much an interview will narrow a rookie's bars).

We also know that playing to your OC/DC's style will give slightly better performance (that's explicit in the Help file); I suspect it affects the AI playcalling and they'll tend to pick plays in 'their' preferred style.

In terms of personal stuff? I suspect that the Player Development/Young Talent/Scouting/Interviewing ratings do affect by position group, so spreading your four coaches around for more coverage is a good thing.

Tempest is Spot on in his explanation. I will just add a couple of things.

What philosophy the HC has doesn't matter, you only need to know that for the OC / DC for your offensive philosophy (The plays that your playbook have with his philosophy will have a slight bonus) and defensive front (Your defense will play the front of your DC).

The position group that the coaches have will have a slight bonus in development / performance.

Playcalling will give a boost / penalise your offensive / defensive plays. It has no impact in how much "sense" the playcalling have, just it's effectiveness.

Agreed about play calling. It's basically the effectiveness bar for coordinators, while motivation is the effectiveness bar for the HC. Plays are scripted so we can be pretty sure that the PC bar doesn't affect what plays are actually being run.

I also think that the Assistant Coach influences special teams, but that's largely conjecture and I don't have much solid evidence to go on.

I've wondered, does this include ST bars on non-ST players (PR/KR and ST) or just the P/K/LS positions?

I would say just P K LS as they other ones aren't listed as Special Team Positions, but just guessing...
