| Breaking News |  | Saturday, December 29th, 1984: Clowns, Gamblers Make Trade Done deal! The Indianapolis Clowns have agreed to send 24-year old right fielder Ray Provencia, a 1st round draft pick and a 2nd round draft pick to the Sin City Gamblers for nothing. The trade, rumored for days, was completed in the wee hours this morning.
|  | Saturday, December 15th, 1984: Washington, Indianapolis Agree to Trade Washington and Indianapolis have agreed in principle to a trade. The Bats will send 29-year old reliever George Neilly and a 5th round draft pick to the Clowns for 21-year old minor league third baseman Xalbador Ansoátegui. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.
To date Neilly has 5 wins and 4 losses with 3 saves. His lifetime ERA stands at 3.76, and he has 95 strikeouts in 105.1 innings.
|  | Wednesday, September 12th, 1984: Laverte on Fire, 5-5 Against Hartford It was a parade of hits for Currito Laverte of the Indianapolis Clowns...one right after another...a total of 5 for the day. He ravaged the Hartford Whalers for 5 hits in his 5 at-bats and propelled the Clowns to a 10-3 victory.
"Laverte was really good and we were really bad," groaned the Whalers manager. "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him."
C. Laverte hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. McAchounich in the 9th.
This year Laverte is batting .221 with 83 hits, 20 doubles, 2 triples and 13 home runs.
