| Breaking News | | Monday, July 30th, 1984: Star of the Week Named in ILA Tzu-hsia Guao would not be denied the Import League A Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 15 hits in 28 at-bats and a .536 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor.
"You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Guao, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind...and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week."
He also tallied 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
So far this year Guao is batting .325 with 4 home runs, 16 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 37 hits in 114 at-bats, 5 walks and a .358 OBP. | | Thursday, July 26th, 1984: Bunch of Base Hits for Sting Guao After the Eugene 16-9 victory over Kinston and his 5-hit day catcher Tzu-hsia Guao told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 20-year-old player gained that distinction today at Ballpark of Jersey City with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Kinston Indians.
The skipper of the Sting spoke glowingly of Guao, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Tzu-hsia did that to perfection today."
T. Guao singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off R. Cotton in the 8th.

"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Tada said after he befuddled the Sting. "I was making good pitches the entire game."
He whiffed 6 and walked 1 in the complete game effort.
