| Breaking News | | Thursday, April 11th, 1985: Des Plaines Comes up Empty Against Schenkevelt It was a quiet day for the Des Plaines Golden Heroes at Tobs Ballpark today. | | Friday, August 24th, 1984: Studdert Smacks 5 Hits for Golden Heroes Five hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Golden Heroes 8-3 win over Trenton, Keith Studdert was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Playboys Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Studdert delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
K. Studdert singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This season Studdert is swinging the bat at a .244 pace. He has hit no home runs and scored 10 times while driving in 5. His on-base percentage is .287, and he has played in 23 games. | | Saturday, June 16th, 1984: O'Duffy Dominates, Whitewashes Golden Heroes Everything clicked on the hill today for Gary O'Duffy of the Annapolis Admirals as he hurled his club to a 8-0 shutout win over the Des Plaines Golden Heroes, limiting them to 6 hits while recording 6 strikeouts and yielding 1 walk. He overpowered some batters with his fastball and buckled knees with his sharp breaking pitches.
"We had our shot at him a couple of different times," the Golden Heroes manager said, "but we weren't able to get to him."
So far this season O'Duffy has compiled a 8-7 record with a 3.42 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | LF Joe Depablos | sore hamstring | 5 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 2-5, .286 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 4.0 GB | | Record at home | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record on the road | 1-4, .200 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-1, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-3, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 2-2, .500 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-5, .286 PCT | | Record in April | 2-5, .286 PCT |
