Friday, August 10th, 1984: Great Stroke! Fitzsymons Gets 5 Hits!
After the Richmond 10-3 victory over Silver City and his 5-hit day center fielder Larry Fitzsymons told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."

The 22-year-old player gained that distinction today at Ballpark of El Paso with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Silver City Outlaws.

The skipper of the Rams spoke glowingly of Fitzsymons, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Larry did that to perfection today."

L. Fitzsymons singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and singled in the 8th.

In 97 games this season Fitzsymons is batting .312 with 14 doubles, 2 triples and no home runs. He has scored 70 runs and driven in 31.
Saturday, July 28th, 1984: Super Swinger! Summers Slams 5 Hits!
"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Richmond's Pete Summers told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."

It definitely turn out well for Summers today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against Bakersfield. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Rams knocked off the Cannons 12-1 at Ballpark of El Paso.

P. Summers singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

Summers is currently hitting at a .282 pace with 2 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 83 games and scored 48 times.
Monday, July 23rd, 1984: ILAAA's #1 Player Named

Burleson is batting at a .290 pace in 1984, picking up 58 hits in 200 at-bats with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
