| Breaking News | | Friday, August 24th, 1984: Studdert Smacks 5 Hits for Golden Heroes Five hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Golden Heroes 8-3 win over Trenton, Keith Studdert was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Playboys Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Studdert delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
K. Studdert singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This season Studdert is swinging the bat at a .244 pace. He has hit no home runs and scored 10 times while driving in 5. His on-base percentage is .287, and he has played in 23 games. | | Friday, August 3rd, 1984: Trenton Blanks Brawlers, Dominguez Notches Win Fresco Dominguez of the Trenton Liberty spun his magic on the Portland Brawlers today.
