In the postgame interview Satoh said, "I'm trying to keep the ball down and let guys put it in play. It worked for me today."

Don Essex was on fire today and sparked his club to a 14-5 victory over the Patriots. The Gardena first baseman was a tough out and went 5 for 6 against Lynn in a fine hitting display.
"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody...and some days they fall in."
D. Essex doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This year in 85 games Essex has batted at a .309 clip with 73 hits, 9 home runs, 51 RBIs, 28 walks, a .383 on-base percentage and 32 runs scored.

 | Saturday, July 21st, 1984: New York Dazed, Villazuerte Gets No-Hitter
Roberto Villazuerte was pretty calm about his no-hitter -- until the last three outs. "You really become conscious of every pitch then. The adrenaline level kicks up even higher. And everybody in the ballpark knows a no-hitter is on the line. The crowd is on its feet. One mistake and it's all over."
But on this day at Ballpark of Lynn Villazuerte of the Lynn Patriots was in complete command, not allowing the New York Comets a single base hit in the 6-0 victory.
"Obviously, you never think this will happen," he said. "I don't know if it's really sunk in yet." Villazuerte faced 28 batters, had 5 strikeouts and no walks in a dominating effort. "To do this you have to have a good defense behind you, too."
"He was on from the get-go," one of the Comets said. "He throws quite a few pitches. He was hitting his spots and keeping us off balance. It was a great game by him."
To date this season, Villazuerte has a record of 5 wins and 4 losses and a 4.16 ERA. He has appeared in 14 games and struck out 37 in 67 innings.
