| Breaking News |  | Thursday, September 13th, 1984: Memphis Railcats Capture AAA Championship It was a storybook year for the Memphis Railcats as they closed out a 4-1 series win over the New Haven Bluefish to claim the 1984 AAA Championship. They wrapped it up with a 4-0 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 2nd championship.
The Railcats manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes win a AAA Championship."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Bluefish manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
During the Import League AAA Stout AAA regular season Memphis put up a 73-57 record and finished first. |  | Friday, August 3rd, 1984: Quritones Winner, Blanks Mobile Guillermo Quritones of the New Haven Bluefish was lights out in a 5-hit whitewash of the Mobile Tides.
He told SION reporters, "I had my good stuff and it went where I wanted it to go."
He registered 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in shutting out Mobile 9-0.
This year Quritones has a 10-7 record with a 3.69 ERA in 24 starts. |  | Monday, July 2nd, 1984: Domestic League AAA Names #1 Player New Haven fans had a lot to cheer about this week as right fielder Mike McCarty brought home the Domestic League AAA Player of the Week trophy.
During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .476 batting average, 10 hits and 4 home runs. McCarty also racked up 8 RBIs and scored 8 runs.
So far this year McCarty is batting .261 with 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
