Newspapers in California and Morgantown reported that the Kodiaks have reached a deal sending 25-year old catcher Shelby Houck to the Mohawks for $280,000 in cash.
Houck boasts a lifetime batting average of .268 with 134 hits, 5 homers, 56 runs scored and 53 RBIs.

 | Saturday, September 15th, 1984: Bad News for California, Lanbin Hurt
California fans held their breath as Abran Lanbin left yesterday's Bats-Kodiaks contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 38-year-old right fielder had suffered a damaged meniscus (knee) while running the bases. It's estimated that he will be out 1-2 weeks.
During the 1984 season Lanbin has hit .281 with 20 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has played in 126 games and scored 79 times.
