| Breaking News |  | Saturday, December 15th, 1984: Washington, Indianapolis Agree to Trade
Washington and Indianapolis have agreed in principle to a trade. The Bats will send 29-year old reliever George Neilly and a 5th round draft pick to the Clowns for 21-year old minor league third baseman Xalbador Ansoátegui. The deal is expected to be finalized shortly and the clubs will be introducing their new players to the press when the paperwork is complete.
To date Neilly has 5 wins and 4 losses with 3 saves. His lifetime ERA stands at 3.76, and he has 95 strikeouts in 105.1 innings.

 | Monday, November 12th, 1984: Outstanding Pitcher Award Presented to Washington Star
Joe Chavarraga of the Washington Bats might be an old man, but he can still pitch with the best of them. Today the 36-year-old hurler snagged the Import League Outstanding Pitcher Award honors for his outstanding 1984 performance.
He posted a 1.93 ERA with 20 wins, 3 losses, 280 strikeouts and 45 walks in 243 innings.

| Tuesday, September 25th, 1984: Chavarraga Befuddles and Blanks Colonials
Washington pitcher Joe Chavarraga put on a show today and walked away with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Virginia Colonials, throttling them on 2 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 10 and walking 1 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
This year Chavarraga has compiled a 19-3 mark with a 1.91 ERA.
