| Breaking News |  | Monday, October 29th, 1984: Maine Beats Philadelphia in Brewmaster's Championship
The Guides earned their 3rd Brewmaster's Championship title and now get to spend all winter basking in glory, while the beaten Freedom will have many sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.
Maine is the Brewers League Baseball Champions for 1984. They did it with a 8-0 triumph to capture the series 4-2.
"Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," the winning manager said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits."
The Philadelphia skipper agreed with that assessment and added, "We were a little weak on fundamentals at crucial times. I have a sneaky suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring."
On the way to the Brewmaster's Championship championship, the Guides ended up in first place in the Domestic League Ale Division and compiled a 102-60 record during the regular season.

 | Friday, August 31st, 1984: Injury Forces Joe Aurillo Out
Joe Aurillo and the Philadelphia Freedom got a bad break in today's game against the Bulldogs as the team confirmed he will miss 1-2 weeks with a tender shoulder. The Freedom starting pitcher suffered the injury throwing a pitch. The team doctor is confident he'll make a full recovery.
In 28 starts this season Aurillo has recorded a 16-6 record and a 1.85 ERA.

 | Sunday, August 19th, 1984: Freedom Lose Woodbury for 8 Months
Mel Woodbury of the Philadelphia Freedom could be headed for the disabled list after suffering a pinched nerve in a game against the Dallas Snappers. He is expected to miss at least 8 months. The Philadelphia center fielder was injured making a defensive play. Woodbury said, "Right now I am pretty sore and I don't feel very good at all."
In the 1984 season Woodbury is hitting .287 with 24 home runs.
