"I stayed ahead of batters," he said after the game, "and was able to get a lot of quick outs. My defense deserves a lot of credit too. They had to be on their toes and they saved me several times."
The 27-year-old starter rung up 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Bulldogs.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," the Baltimore skipper said.

It was announced today that the two teams came to agreement on a trade. Virginia will get 35-year old starting pitcher Frank Dallyn and Baltimore will pick up 25-year old left fielder Larry Headington in return. "I'm not surprised by the news," one of the players told reporters, "It's part of the business and I understand that. I am looking forward to playing for the Colonials."
Lifetime Headington has hit for a .249 average and totaled 143 hits, 16 home runs and 83 RBIs.
In his career Dallyn has compiled an ERA of 3.11 with 108 victories and 66 defeats and has held opponents to a .240 batting average.
