Monday, May 13th, 1985: ILA Player of the Week Goes to Davis of Aberdeen His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Waylon Davis was rewarded with the Import League A Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Aberdeen Ironbirds center fielder hit .478 while collecting 11 hits in 23 at-bats, 1 home run and 12 RBIs.
This season Davis has banged out 20 hits in 58 at-bats for a .345 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .387 pace and his totals also include 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
Monday, May 13th, 1985: Star of the Week Honored in DLA So far in his young career, Jermaine Barnett has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Domestic League A in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 23-year-old Lowell Patriots shortstop hit at a torrid .429 clip as he collected 12 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
Hitting .350 to date, Barnett has 3 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 33 games.
Sunday, May 12th, 1985: Michaud Batters Johnson City Big Time "Believe it or not," said Nitro right fielder Éric Michaud, "they threw me some good pitches today."
That would be hard to believe for anyone who saw him dispose of the Brawlers with a great 5-hit performance.
"He made it look easy," said the Johnson City manager, who saw his team fall to the Nitro Explosives, 8-4. "Hats off to him!"
É. Michaud hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off L. Sonego in the 8th.
Thus far in 1985 Michaud is hitting .339 with 1 home run, 11 RBIs, 15 runs scored and has compiled a .388 OBP.
