Monday, May 20th, 1985: Herren Picked ILAAA Player of the Week At the age of 28, Duncan Herren might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Annapolis first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Import League AAA Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 8 hits in 15 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 6 games.
This season Herren has hit at a .313 clip with 27 RBIs, 4 home runs and 18 runs scored. He has played in 39 games.
Monday, May 20th, 1985: Salguero Caps Great Week One of the league's most exciting young players, Chan Salguero of the Boulder City Big Horns earned himself Domestic League AAA Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 24-year-old center fielder had a lofty .458 average (11-24), collecting 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
During the 1985 season Salguero has hit .304 with 4 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has played in 38 games and scored 27 times.
"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Chicago manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."
Wrangham fired a 4-hitter and totaled 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout performance.
