Brewers League Baseball News Article | | | Monday, September 3rd, 1984: O'Fallon Sensational! Goes 5-5! After the Maine 9-1 victory over Hartford and his 5-hit day first baseman Eddie O'Fallon told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 29-year-old player gained that distinction today at Old Port Park with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Hartford Whalers.
The skipper of the Guides spoke glowingly of O'Fallon, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Eddie did that to perfection today."
E. O'Fallon hit a three-run home run off F. Delrosario in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off B. Waller in the 8th.
In 1984 O'Fallon has hit at a .324 clip with 166 hits, 13 home runs, 74 RBIs, 78 walks, .414 on-base percentage and has scored 91 times. | |
