Thursday, August 30th, 1984: Bats Starting Pitcher Injured
Watching Joe Rodriguez getting helped off the field today at Yankee Field at Potomac Cove, fans of the Washington Bats feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the starting pitcher will miss 1-2 weeks with a finger blister. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Rodriguez suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Colonials.

This season to date Rodriguez has a record of 9 wins and 6 losses with a 4.01 ERA, has appeared in 27 games and struck out 118 in 143.2 innings.
