Brewers League Baseball News Article | | | Saturday, August 25th, 1984: Clapp Goes 5-6 It was a good day for the Millers at Kennywood Park as they clipped the Los Lunas Javelinas 14-2. It was tremendous day for Bob Clapp, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 6 barrage.
The Pittsburgh catcher told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm 'not dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then in a split-second decide to try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
B. Clapp singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off W. Pakenham in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Looking at his stats this year, Clapp has compiled a .282 batting average and .337 on-base percentage while hitting 10 home runs and driving in 48 runs. He has played in 100 games and scored 47 runs. | |
