Friday, August 24th, 1984: Hiraki on Rampage Against Whalers!
Who needs batting practice? Subaru Hiraki of Indianapolis apparently doesn't as he peppered Hartford with a 5-hit outburst in today's game. He got the hits, but lost the game. The Whalers pulled out a 8-7 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 8 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

One of his teammates hollered out, "No, only if your team wins the game!"

S. Hiraki grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, singled in the 14th and hit a two-run home run off J. McAchounich in the 16th.

Currently Hiraki is batting .334 with 123 hits, 21 doubles, 5 triples and 5 home runs. He has 19 stolen bases, scored 54 runs and driven in 35.
