Tuesday, October 4th, 1988: According to his manager, "Hard work and a good, quick swing were the keys to Amistad Caballero winning the Import League batting championship this season." It became official with the close of the regular season that the Baltimore left fielder had won the title with a .339 batting average. During the year Caballero played in 154 games and accumulated 197 hits, including 37 doubles, 7 triples and 31 home runs. The IL's leading batter also put up 115 RBIs and scored 99 runs.
