Monday, July 23rd, 1984: Bulls and Bats Agree to Deal
Officials for the Denver Bulls confirmed that they have traded 35-year old closer Merlin Thompson to the Washington Bats. In return, the Bulls will receive 22-year old minor league starting pitcher Guo-dong Zhào, 34-year old reliever Oliver Ganesvoort, 18-year old minor league catcher Scot Borkholder and 31-year old center fielder Jesús Noboa.

To date this year Thompson has 21 saves with a 6-3 mark and 1.50 ERA.

Noboa is batting .221 this year with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 40 hits in 181 at-bats, 13 walks and a .276 on-base percentage.
