Today the Import League announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Windy City catcher Jared Kirby. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers. Kirby hammered them long and hard all week long, finishing up with these impressive stats on his scorecard:
26 AB, 11 R, 11 H, .423 BA, 4 HR, 6 RBI, 3 BB, .483 OBP.
So far in 1984, Kirby is batting .288 with 15 home runs and 47 RBIs.
